Title: Frequenter?
~Kabookie~ - February 27, 2007 12:04 AM (GMT)
How many posts do you need to be a frequenter?
Just to tell you, that rule thing is just plain gay and stupid. It's pointless, but...
I guess you don't care.

Toa of Explosives - February 27, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
You need 12 posts I beleive. I wouldn't classify it as "Stupid" because it has a good purpose. If we let new members wander in and they only post in the Random Section, they won't give a poo about the company. Then we will be attacting members for the wrong reason. Though in some cases I do agree with you, seeing as some members are already active with the company and can't post in the random section. That is unfair. Besides, 12 posts isn't that high.
~Kabookie~ - February 28, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
But you have no idea how hard it is to get 12 posts when there barely is any place to post anyway...
The other point is that I start a topic, it gets moved to Random Discussion, and I'm then not even allowed to post in it. Gay, see what I mean?

I had discussed this before with IN when the forum was in early beginnings. Rules are rules. You now have enough posts so everything should be fine. There are many topics for you to post in. If you came to this forum for random discussion then you'll be disapointed.

I didn't come jsut for that.
But still, you guys are trying to be too much like BZP.
Close this.

BZP is one of the largest online communities. Why not be like them?

A randomness forum is common to just about every online community, not just BZP. You may not have come just for the forum, but there are people who do do that, or will join for the sake of the forum as a whole, and eventually only post in randomness.

Post right after I post. Easy and effective :)

Actually, my goal is to steer away from being a purely BZP-like forum. If we were copying them, I know a number of people who should get docked for advertising violations and the topic regarding our logo would've been dead long ago. BZP does have many good policies, and all of them are justifiable.
We installed the rule to keep people from simply joining because they wanted to talk about something else. Once they prove that they do not simply intend to post there, they are rewarded with more freedom. There are over 100 individual topics outside of RD that may be posted in, so I don't think there's any shortage when it comes to being able to post. I am still open to suggestions, however. What number would you recommend?
However, I do see your point of view regarding moving topics into restricted areas, but at the moment, I see no clear solution to the problem other than removing the rule entirely.
Why? It seems to be doing just fine.

First person to get booted probably wouldve been me if it were BZP. Especially if IN was B6 incarnate here :fear:
Algernon the infamous - March 1, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
BZP has the average IQ of 74. That's why you should avoid being like them.
wolf waltzing - March 1, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
bzp = boring, I'm sorry but it is. Also, there's not much of a "family" feel there, where there is here (of course, such innocence may be lost eventually anyway...sadly). And it does seem to be a lack of intellectual thrill (listen to me, I make most of the dumb comments here and I speak of intellect, lol).
Also, though it was fun enough getting enough posts to post on the random topics, I don't see much of a necessity of it, really. It does more harm than good, imo.
[edit: also, such use of the word "gay" can get you sued. Best if not used in such manner. Gay is happy anyway  , try...hmm, use the thesaurus I'm too tired to, lol]

Because BZP is being run by a bunch of jerk wads.
No offense, toward anyone, but forums are better places if they aren't like any other forum in particular. Originality is the best thing that can ever happen. ;)
*DWAN* - March 1, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
When everyone tries to be original they become the same. (liek, genious!) Almost everything now that is "original" has been done.
And I think that's flamming. *shrugs* I have no power hear.

Arg, I dislike BZP Dwan, sometimes I don't see how we look so much alike

Sory, I'm not meaning to offend anyone. Just stating my thoughts.
But one suggestion that might improve things a bit is to let any artwork go in the artwork forum.
Algernon the infamous - March 3, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
Really. I was in an AIM confrence with a couple of friends and a BZP staff member, and when a friend started complaining about another person, who happened to be a BZPower member, the mod threatened to get him in trouble with the admins. WTFuzzies?
Power-crazy mods. >_>
... lame smiley.
Iruini Nuva - March 3, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
Oh I doubt that he would have done much, unless it was on BZP member insulting another, otherwise that mod would be going WAY out of his jurisdiction. I wouldn't call it a hunger for power necessarily, it's more just that they have to make sure that the site is appropriate for the 8 year-olds who are on there. If there weren't younger kids on there, I believe that the rules would be a bit looser. But hey, they just started loosening up already, people aren't getting punished anymore for direct links. I believe that they may try to maintain some sort of enforcement, but considering that Binky decided to DL my sig himself, well, I think things are pretty lax on that right now. :P
*snickers to self about Alg getting caught by the word filter*
wolf waltzing - March 3, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)
Oh, I do like word filters :D
From what I've heard (not speaking from personal experience thank you very much), some BZPmods in particular are a bit power mad--and I see my brother being a little strange here sometimes. You won't believe the amount of violations he'd write up if I weren't here to threaten him (in a nice, loving way of course) with some sort of tell-all statement ;) (I'm only half-kidding here, lol)
*DWAN* - March 3, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
She hits me on the head ;_;. I dun lost abilities to remember much.
We are getting off topic here I believe.
-- *DWAN*
Iruini Nuva - March 5, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
I've noticed that every time you say that, the topic instantly dies. This may be a bit off of the original topic, but it still has to do with forum policies, so I'll let it slide.
wolf waltzing - March 5, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
topics, like conversation, are meant to change, in my opinion. :D
Algernon the infamous - March 7, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't see what's so bad about off-topicness. If the conversation changes, so be it.
And ironically we're now off-topic on the subject of off-topicness.
Iruini Nuva - March 14, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
And as one can see, if we get far enough off topic the topic gradually slows down, until someone brings it back to where it initially began, as I shall do now.
Does anybody see a way that we can maintain the minimum post policy while avoiding problems like moving topics to forums that members cannot access?
*DWAN* - March 15, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
close the topic maybe?
-- *DWAN*
~Kabookie~ - March 17, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
No.
Don't.
You guys are too much like BZP.
Prolly because IN was a suck-up and finally got to lovely flowery golden woo hoo dream of becoming a mod type thing.
That doesn't mean you guys have to be like BZP>
*Closing this* *Closing that*
Uh-oh, that's off topic! I'm going to have to warn you!
Please floow our totally ridiculous guidelines! They will help you out by making you as gay as us!
That's my impression.

Iruini Nuva - March 17, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
If we were like BZP, I know a number of members (who shall remain anonymous) who would be serious trouble already. I daresay we're more lenient. Would you care to explain how we're like BZP? Is it because we frown upon double posts (like practically every other forum)? Is it because we close topics at times? I don't think BZP has the post count rule, so we couldn't be the same in that way. ;) Nor can I see why copying BZP is inherently bad. Everybody whines about the rules, but they tend to stay anyway. If it's so bad, why is it one of the largest forums in the world?
LOL, I've had my share of moderator yellings. In fact, one of our staff made the brilliant move of getting me trouble just a few months before my promotion. :P They recognized that I was good at spotting and reporting problematic posts and was generally nice and helpful around the forum. That's why I received the promotion.
Would you mind giving me an instance in which you received a warn level raising for going off topic? Or any member receiving one for being off topic at all? Having examined the moderation logs, I can't find one.
What's so ridiculous about our guidelines? I can't fix anything without knowing what's actually a problem. Thus far I've seen vague comments about how bad everything is, but no grounds to support it.
