That would be the first edition of the GM 7 EULA. Mark updated it because of a lot of irate users. It's been updated to fix that error.
| QUOTE (Website EULA) |
| ...you grant to YoYo Games the non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, royalty free right and licence to use your Content, including Games on and in connection with yoyogames.com and to give all consents (if any) which YoYo Games requires including under copyright and other intellectual property, data protection and privacy laws world wide, for that use only; WHAT this means is that we will not sell your game or any extension (or anything else that you upload) or use them separately from yoyogames.com without your permission. What it does mean is that we can use what you upload within the web site and make it available to users of the web site. |
Plus I'm still programming our games in 6.1, so that EULA doesn't apply to me anyways. :P

Although, I would note that it'd be a simple matter of ammending the GM6 EULA if they really wished to uphold the policy all around. :P

I get the impression that Overmars knows that if he changes that EULA too he'll have another revolution on his hands.

*Shrugs* I know, besides, the only instance in which he likely would do so is if the original EULA for gm7 was correct in it's supposed intent to take ownership of users' work. :)

It's correct in its intended effect, but not in how it's worded. Basically what they mean is that they have the right to distribute from their site whatever you upload to it, which is essentially the same right as Savefile, Maj.com, etc. have. The problem was just that they worded it poorly, thus causing some pretty significant issues (if someone puts Mario in a game then Yoyo owns Mario, etc.).

I wonder if Garret uses 7.1 and is using this as a way to strike at us :P

There is no 7.1. 7.0 was only released a few months ago. ;)

Winking is really annoying. ;)
Anyway, I sent a complaint to YoYo, and they confirmed that it just applies to the resource packs. Nevermind.

It's nice to have official confirmation. :) Seeing as the issue is resolved...
