Dude! You should really keep going with this.
It's you awesomest game!

Nickbomb - Overkill PMer - November 18, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we are since were getting so many more people urging us to complete it some time this year from the PMs Im getting

-Zach- - November 18, 2006 05:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I know I haven't done much lately *tho I swear, I am working on that insurgent model* XP... But if you just give me a list of models you would be needing.. I could just start pumping out some stuff. Don't know why, I'm just more dedicated when there's more to do.. AND... It's easier when if I get sick of a model I can just switch to another.. and thus... I'm always making progress.

Now.. if you made any sense of that post... good for you. :)

I'll work on a list. I'll need to open up the file and check through it again. Could you re-upload the Vahki staff? It's on another drive (which is currently out of the computer). The old savefile link you gave me doesn't work because the file was deleted when they their server crashed.

LoL.. actually it was deleted even before that.. for not having a recent download. But yeah.. I'll be sure to do that when I'm at home.

You guys are trying to copy Halo!

-Edited for unecessary content.

Hi. Welcome to Biotech. I firstly suggest you read the forum guidelines before posting.

We know the models are from halo. These were priliminary placeholders. Our 3D graphics designer is working on the actual models that will be in the game.

-Zach- - November 22, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
As Dwan said.. they're for programming purposes. It's not easy to code for something that doesn't exist yet, so often you must use resources you have on hand until you can replace it with the final version.

Tahatu-nator - November 23, 2006 09:27 PM (GMT)
So... Is there a demo coming out, or did you can this? I was looking forward to this.

*DWAN* - November 23, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
Currently we are working strongly on the insurgent. We are still working slightly on this and other games.

Thanks Dwan. :)

Yes, these are all placeholders until everything is in place. Trust me, the Halo stuff
isn't final. We're not quite that low. :P

We don't have a set release date for this yet. As Dwan said, this is our secondary project. Once The Insurgent is done, we should be picking up work on this.

That's what I was reffering to on BZP. And yes, I'm still trying to find that vahki staff. *I have a LOT of blender files on my comp.* And what file format(s) would you be wanting models in?

Iruini Nuva - December 4, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
Can you do .obj? I think I have a converter for that.

-Zach- - December 4, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
Yep. I absolutely can.

Iruini Nuva - December 5, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
*happydance* Can you send a random test object (like a cube) so that I can confirm that it works?

-Zach- - December 24, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
LoL... I swear I never saw that post. Yeah, maybe I can do that sometime tomorrow.

Nickbomb - Overkill PMer - December 25, 2006 12:57 AM (GMT)
No time like the present

-Zach- - January 8, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
Maybe nows a good time to mention, I can animate you know. In fact, I like animating better than modeling. Although I'd model first but, yeah, no idea why I'm mentioning this.

Iruini Nuva - January 8, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
We could probably use that skill too. How competent are you with Blender's game engine?

-Zach- - January 8, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
I've fiddled with it. Haven't gotten in depth into it yet, but I know the basics. I also have some animation samples as well.

Iruini Nuva - January 9, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
Cool, mind PMing me some of the samples?

Nickbomb - Overkill PMer - January 9, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
Same here will ya? Im interested also :)

-Zach- - January 10, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
Will do, I have one that is pretty nifty, and to further prove my skill I can point out all the flaws and potential solutions as well. :D

Edit: I'll just attach it to this pm tomorrow.. I kinda have to go. XD

Iruini Nuva - January 10, 2007 04:27 AM (GMT)
PM? LOL. This is a post, not a PM. ;) And depending on how big it is, attaching it may not work. It might be better if you just uploaded it and PMd it to us.

-Zach- - January 10, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
It's not to big... I had written out a summary and was almost done attaching it when the lan died for no real reason. At that I was like.. screw that, I'll do this tommorow.

[Edit:] Here be the link: http://savefile.com/files/403146

Ok So the summary:

(1).. Both of the long gears that connect the head to the body are rigged seperately to individual bones, and because of location influences, there are tracking errors with the first bone. This problem is solved by adding additional keyframes between existing keyframes to perfect the tracking.
(2).. There is a rotational error on the hand that is on the exposed side, causing it to rotate flat, then pause for several frames. Same solution as above.
(3).. Jittering in the feet positioning, solution would be to insert keyframes frame by frame in reference to a static object making the stance firm.
(4).. Most Noticeably... I forgot to animate the thumb button thing that causes the head to jerk forwards... >_< This is solved by.. well.. animating it.

Anyways.. you may note that the headshield jitters, but when on a solid surface you find that it is actually bouncing off of the "ground" after flying forward. The thing took about 10-15 minutes to animate, and would take about 5 minutes to fix. (If I still had the file. ) Anyways. Yeah. >_>

Iruini Nuva - January 11, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
ZOMG! That looks awesome. I totally wasn't expecting something that good. Think we can switch the game over to the Blender engine? It's still early enough.

-Zach- - January 11, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah sure you betcha. :D.. and thanks for the compliment. =D

Iruini Nuva - January 11, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
Cool. I think we can do a ton more that way. Plus it'll be much better 3D. Do good work and you get good reviews. Thats just how it works. ^_^

-Zach- - January 11, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
Now you're gettin' it. :P Anyways.... I'll start looking for those reference materials. v_v

Iruini Nuva - January 15, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Reference materials?

-Zach- - January 30, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
Detailed info on the Blender Engine. Etc.

BG - February 11, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
I can't help but shake off the feeling that you're making a 3D game just because it draws a crowd on BZP.

That aside, from what I see it looks good. I can't truly critique the stills until I see the actual gun models, tho.

Iruini Nuva - March 19, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
I had originally started this game as a sort of follow-up to Piraka 3D after the file was destroyed. I was still quite interested in the 3D aspects of GM and chose to take an interesting twist upon general fan opinions (aka "Why isn't Macku an Inika?") and the then-new 2006 storyline. Trust me, it wasn't an overnight success. It did help to bring business, but that wasn't it's original purpose.

We've been using the GM 3D engine, although a switch over to Blender has been contemplated as well. I can see if I can convert .obj files. I think I can.

Please dont swear on the forum. Thank you.

Iruini Nuva - June 8, 2007 04:39 PM (GMT)
And NB it's usually not best to quote the post you think is bad. :P

I think we really need to start brainstorming some more for this game, I'm having a difficult timing planning it all out, especially in light of The Insurgent and the work I'm putting into it.
