Biotech Member of the Month

I've been noticing a lot of activity from a number of the members recently, and now I'd like to give the especially active ones a little reward of my own in return. I have decided to start up a new competition for you guys. Here's how it works:

Your goal is to prove that out of all the members, you are the best of them all. Every member here has a decent shot at this, so don't be too discouraged because someone has 200 more posts than you (this isn't necessarily judged on post count). If you like to see the wonderful prizes that you can win via this contest, simply scroll down.

Who is Eligible

This contest is open to all Biotech forum members (myself excluded). Simply follow the entrance and participation guidelines below, and you're in! :)

How to Enter

If you would like to enter, please post the following in this topic:

• Your current post count (found to the left of any of your posts)
• Your current posts per day (which can be viewed here on the left).

Until you have posted this information, you will not be entered. The deadline for entering in your post details is 12:00 PM Mountain Time on Saturday, January 13th.

Judging Criteria

I will be judging based off of (but not limited to) the following criteria:

• General activeness
• Post count increase
• Post count average increase
• General behavior (following the Forum Guidelines,etc.)
• Overall helpfulness (answering questions, reporting posts, etc.)

Prizes

The member who best improves in these areas or who otherwise proves him/herself to be the most active of them all, will receive the following rewards:

• 25 Post count increase
• Unique next to your username*
• Your username in gold*
• All the prestige and honor that comes with the position
• Unique 'Biotech Member of the Month' Banner
• Unique Avatar (graciously sprited by 'B')
• More rewards in the planning stages

One runner up will receive:

• 15 Post count increase
• Unique 'Biotech MotM Runner-up Banner'
• More rewards in the planning stages

*Active for that specific month only

Winner's will be announced around the beginning of February, so you have plenty of time to get busy. :)

I can certainly do the member title. As for the avatar, I'd like to see the finished product before I add that to the list.

Looks great. I think we can probably add that to the prize list. It allows for members to still retain their own custom avatar at the same time. :)

Where would the gold pentagon be placed in our profiles?

It won't only be in the profile. It'll show up next to your user name in the forums. For example, if you won, your name would look something like this:

Out of curiousity... how -will- judging be done? Is it nomination for semi's then you judge for finals? Or is public voting involved somewhere or what?

It's gonna depend on how many people enter. *hinthint* If we only have 3 people, I'll probably just judge myself. If we get more like 10, I'll probably hold a poll and judge from the top few that you guys decide. Either that or I'll decide on the top few, and you guys vote on them. Again, it really all depends on the circumstances.

Don't worry Nickbomb, no one will have complete control over whether or not they win. That's why I'm setting it up so that I choose people for at least part of the contest. It gives me the opportunity to weed out the members who didn't well, qualify. I wouldn't single Alg out though. Who knows? Maybe he's the one. ;)

Oh gosh... can you even imagine the publicity he'd get from that? "Alg, First Member of the Month on Biotech Forums!" Then we'd actually -have- to pull out the "In the words of Alg..." Campaign.

You actually still have a chance. Part of what I'm looking for is overall activity improvement, not necessarily a high post count. Thus, it may actually be easier for you count to proportionally improve than for someone such as say, Zach.

I've still more than doubled it. :lol: Nonetheless though.. it's not just post count and such.

Admittedly, that's pretty impressive. But you still have a month or so to go. ;) Think you can maintain it? :D

Yeah! We should have a beauty competition rather than a silly member of the month competion! I would fall of the runway but I still be the prettiest.

Back on topic--I think that we have enough people enterred for the members to vote.
