As some of you may recall, BBC Contest #44 was delayed due to the good ol' BZP server being its usual self. Well, it's back. In fact, the entry period is over and voting began a couple days ago. XD Anyways, this is a general description (same one used in the BZP topic in fact) for my entry (who by the way, is a mere

).
GalleryOverview:Well, it's a Matoran obviously (or if I may use the term, a "Tohunga"). Like other members, I've noticed an excessive amount of Toa/Titan-like variances of Tohu. Being my usual non-conformative self I opted for a different approach. One thought I had had was taking the "Heart of BZPower" phrase literally, but as it turns out it was already done (nicely done too

). My next thought was a Matoran. I thought I saw some other Matoran Tohu mentioned in the entry list, but I don't really recall (I have yet to thoroughly examine the list, come to think of it, I haven't been in BBC in like, forever). Besides there's room for two Matoran amongst some-odd 100 titans. Some of this MOC was inspired by an old model I had built as a prototype for The Insurgent (the game can be viewed
here). No the model wasn't released publicly so this is a legal MOC.
Points of Interest:Probably the thing that the most attention should be drawn to is the gearing for the back of the head. Or perhaps I should say lack thereof, seeing as no gears were used to create the effect. I spent a good amount of time trying to find a unique method that looked nice. Many of the gearing setups I've seen didn't look all that compelling to me (no offence to other builders). Plus I wanted something yellow/gold, so that pretty much scratched out actual gears for me. Eventually my eyes settled on a nice small gold tube, and behold it worked. You may also notice that I chose not to put the little tires on his legs/arms as I see most builders who use this style do. I don't know why, but I think he looks better without them (nor do I have that kind of tire anyway

).
The second interesting point actually has little to do with the MOC itself, but rather with the photography. This has got to be my best shot yet. I remember that there was a mbackground that I had absolutely loved, so I decided to see if I could do something like that too. The big problem was the transparency. For my CG backgrounds, I've typically shot on a bluescreen. Of course, blue pieces don't work well on a bluescreen. Nor do transparent ones on a greenscreen look good with a white background. The solution was actually rather simple - paper. I'm not going to give outodel a loooong time ago (not sure of the exact date or MOC) on a white the details on the method, but suffice it to say that the translucent pieces and small holes show the original backdrop while the rest is CG'd in.
Basically - Tohu is lots of fun.

And needles to say,
vote for me!
